On Friday, December 16, 2016, the Broward County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section held its quarterly Breakfast with the Judiciary at the Broward County Courthouse Law Library. Nearly 70 people attended the breakfast including approximately 30 members of the Broward County Judiciary. With a near 2:1 ratio of attorneys to judges, the breakfast once again showed why it is one of the best events for young attorneys to meet members of the judiciary in an informal setting and talk to them about a range of topics from professionalism and practice pointers, to maintaining a work-life balance and even personal hobbies. This breakfast was complimentary thanks to a generous $500 grant from the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division. This grant helped many of our Assistant State Attorneys, Public Defenders, and other government attorneys attend this event as they usually must pay out of their own pockets. Regional breakfasts will be taking place on January 18, 2017 at all three of the Broward County Satellite Courthouses so the judges at these courthouses along with the attorneys who do not practice in downtown Fort Lauderdale can share the experience. Our next breakfast at the main courthouse will be in March and the exact date will be announced soon.
